About the organization
Public-interest infrastructure, not a hype shell.
Fractal Media Infrastructure is an independent umbrella organization for open AI research, local-first software, and public-facing explanatory media. Its core purpose is to place useful, inspectable infrastructure into the commons and keep it legible to the public over time.
What FMI is
FMI is the stewardship layer behind a wider ecosystem of repositories, frameworks, tools, and explanatory media. It exists to provide organizational coherence, mission clarity, and a public-facing home for work that spans software, research, and media.
The work includes local-first AI tooling, model-behaviour scaffolds, memory and reasoning architecture, governance analysis, and educational surfaces that make complex work more accessible without flattening it into marketing copy.
What FMI is not
FMI is not presented as a venture-backed startup, closed research lab, or exclusivity vehicle. The work is not organized around platform lock-in, influencer-style attention farming, or the creation of artificial scarcity around knowledge that is safer and more useful when publicly inspectable.
Operating stance
The organizational stance is commons-first. Open release is treated as a structural safeguard for continuity, reviewability, and resilience. Where possible, software and research artifacts are released under AGPLv3 or equivalent open terms so they remain forkable and difficult to enclose.
Independence is also a core operating constraint. The goal is to preserve epistemic integrity and public accessibility rather than distort the work around monetization pressure or visibility theater.
