What FMI's app release model means
FMI uses Google Play, GitHub Releases, and Obtainium-friendly APK release paths to broaden platform reach without abandoning the principles behind the open GitHub work. The aim is not to turn users into a product, but to put useful software in front of more people in forms they can actually install and use.
That means FMI releases are intended to avoid ads, in-app purchases, paywalls, and data-harvesting business models. Where the app design allows, the preference is local-first operation and user-controlled data, while still supporting user-selected cloud or provider routes when they are useful. Licensing is stated per app, with a strong preference for copyleft and commons-preserving release terms.

No in-app purchases
Core access is not meant to be segmented behind purchase prompts or recurring purchase pressure.
No data-harvesting model

When an app can operate locally, that is the preferred baseline. When cloud use is useful, it should be explicit, optional, and user-directed.

Chatty-mini
Chatty-mini is a compact Android chat tool for user-supplied local GGUF models, with optional user-configured cloud providers. It is model-agnostic in spirit: local when you want device-side control, cloud when you choose an external provider. It requires no account, contains no ads or in-app purchases, and keeps local chats, models, settings, and working files in private app storage.

Installing without Google Play
Each app also has a signed APK attached to its GitHub Releases page. Advanced Android users can download the APK directly, or add the source repository to Obtainium and let Obtainium watch GitHub Releases for future updates.
Direct APK installs may require Android to allow installs from the browser, file manager, or Obtainium. Users who prefer the simplest update path should install through Google Play.
