What FMI's app release model means
FMI uses Google Play to broaden platform reach without abandoning the principles behind the open GitHub work. The aim is not to turn users into a product, but to put useful software in front of more people in forms they can actually install and use.
That means FMI releases are intended to avoid ads, in-app purchases, paywalls, and data-harvesting business models. Where the app design allows, the preference is local-first operation and user-controlled data. Licensing is stated per app, with a strong preference for copyleft and commons-preserving release terms.
